Youth Conservation Corps wraps up season on the Kaibab

WILLIAMS, Ariz. – What happens when eight teenagers spend their summer in khaki uniforms traipsing through ponderosa pine forests tracking goshawks and building fences in the name of conservation? Ecology. Education. And possibly a glimpse into their futures.

The teens were all part of an Arizona version of the federal Youth Conservation Corps or YCC. The end result is to allow local high school students to learn about the resources and wonders of the land they grew up near, but may never have explored – all in the hopes that these young Arizonans will someday become the next stewards.
