Current Year Funding Overview

Arizona public district schools receive funding based on the number of students that attend their school. Typically, the funding calculation was based on the total number of students that schools had the year prior, which allowed them to plan and create budgets for the following year with a reasonable level of predictability. However, last legislative session, the Legislature put a measure in place that would require schools to be funded based on the number of students attending their schools in the current year beginning this coming fiscal year. …

Schools and the state need additional time to work out these details and to find budget sustainability. This year, Expect More Arizona and many of our partners are asking the legislature and Governor to delay the change to current year funding, so that schools and the state has the time they need to make the transition.
