After implementing six-point teacher recruitment and retention plan, the Page Unified School District saw the program bear its first fruits of success last week when they had to fill significantly fewer teaching positions than in previous years. 2

Attracting new teachers — and keeping them — has been an ongoing challenge for PUSD over the years. The school district typically has to fill between 30 to 50 vacant teaching positions each new school year to fill gaps left by teachers from the previous year who didn’t renew their contracts.
