Take Action: Urge Senators to Co-sponsor the Bi-Partisan Summer Meals Act of 2014
Take Action: Urge Senators to Co-sponsor the Bi-Partisan Summer Meals Act of 2014
Last week, Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) introduced the Summer Meals Act, S. 2527. It is a bipartisan bill that will enhance efforts to expand the reach of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) to low-income children and significantly simplify the administration of the program for sponsors. The SFSP Program helps ensure that low-income children do not go hungry away from school. The program feeds children under 18 with free meals that meet federal nutrition guidelines.
Rep. Don Young (R-AK) and Rep. Rick Larsen (D-WA) will be leading the effort in the House of Representatives. We will send you more information about that legislation once it’s introduced.
Action Needed: Contact your Senators and urge them to cosponsor Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Lisa Murkowski’s (R-AK) Summer Meals Act (S.2527).
You can deliver this important message:
“As your constituent and supporter of ending hunger for children, I am calling today to ask you to support the bipartisan Summer Meals Act (Senate Bill 2527) to expand the Summer Food Service Program for low-income children and simplify administration for sponsors.”
