Tuba City packs Warrior Pavilion for commencement

It was a packed house at Tuba City Warrior Pavilion May 21 for Tuba City High School’s (TCHS) graduation commencement ceremony.

The Pavilion can hold a little more than 5,000 visitors and it was filled to capacity.

Family, friends, administrators, teachers, godparents, grandparents and even great grandparents all came to witness Tuba City High School seniors take a step toward independent lives, moving on from high school to colleges, universities or vocational secondary settings to start their adult careers.

Isacc David’s aerodynamics project inspired him to want to be a pilot one day. Aydan Tomas learned how to cook on a parabolic solar cooker and Sawyer Allison-Begay and Jasmine Redhouse are figuring out how to make an edible water bottle.

These are just some of the science projects at the school-wide 4th annual Science Symposium at STAR school April 7 where there were projects on filtration systems, wind turbines, fruit batteries, air pressure, a bubbling lava lamp and many more.

Tuba City High School Gates Millenium Scholarship winners attended a reception at Arizona State University Aug. 21 where the students and their families learned about college readiness resources.
Of the seven Tuba City High 2015 Gates Millenium winners (cohort 2015) five of the winners are attending Arizona State University, one is attending Northern Arizona University (NAU) and one is attending University of Arizona(UofA).
