Coconino County, region celebrates expanded ‘Week of the Young Child’ through April 30
Coconino County and the region celebrates an expanded “Week of the Young Child” with a variety of early child events.
The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration initiated by the National Association the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world’s largest early childhood education association, with nearly 60,000 family and professional members and a network of 50 local, state, and regional Affiliates.

For two Northern Arizona University students graduating on Friday, their diplomas are more than just a reward for an academic job well done. For Alexia Adams and Lorenzo Johnson, their diplomas are also proof that you can do anything you put your mind to, even when life gets in the way.

Community members are invited to attend a FREE community forum at CCC in Page.
Monday, Oct. 30, 2017 from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
The feedback received will help CCC learn how it is perceived, and used to develop programs, and to help CCC become a better institution that serves and meets community needs. CCC President, Dr. Colleen Smith and community leader, Kerry Blume will be facilitating the discussion.

Girls 4 Good, a grass-roots organization of girls in grades 7 through 9, is celebrating the passing of the community service torch to the next class with a special fundraiser Saturday.
The group is hosting the Flagstaff Walks Together event from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Buffalo Park.
Easter eggs and educational services highlight 2017 Page Early Childhood Fair
On yet another windy day, the children were lined up at the edge of the infields of the four baseball diamonds anxiously awaiting the horn to sound.
When it did hundreds of children of all ages rushed to the outfields of the Page Sports Complex to snatch their Easter Eggs at the 2017 “Early Learning Everyday Early Childhood Fair” held April 8.
Time to sign up for financial aid for CCC student
The deadline to apply for financial aid to attend Coconino Community College is fast approaching.
Students needing federal financial aid should have applications completed by July 20 in order to attend CCC during the fall semester, which begins Aug. 29. The form is available at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The application can take up to 40 days to process, and unfortunately, the college has students that do not make it through the registration process because they did not fill out the FAFSA in time.
About 70 percent of Page CCC students qualify for up to a yearly $5,500 in Pell grant money through FAFSA that does not have to be paid back, which is an amount that could pay for all tuition and books. Staff members at the CCC Page Campus are available to help fill out the forms.
