Coconino Community College was recently ranked 28th in the nation as a top associate’s degree producer for Native American students.

The college has ranked in the top 50 for the last four years from Community College Week, a national magazine.

Reports suggest prop 123 will only make small impact on hemorrhaging state education budget

A new report released by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities has concluded Arizona cut more from its education budget than any other state in the nation between the years of 2009 and 2014.

The report broke alongside a statement from the Children’s Action Alliance (CAA) outlining that the state will be more than $860 million shy, when accounting for inflation, of what its education budget was prior to the recession.

Although the Page Unified School District governing board didn’t take any action during their regularly scheduled board meeting (Dec. 8) night, a proposal given by PHS principal Paul Gagnon which would restrict students from leaving campus in their vehicles at lunchtime was met with vocal approval from both the board and superintendent Rob Varner.

Caley Sandoval and Keely Yazzie were named Homecoming King and Queen on Friday night at the Homecoming game. The annual Homecoming parade was held on Friday afternoon.

In recent years the Page Unified School District has faced an ongoing problem of having to fill numerous teacher vacancies at the beginning of each new school year, typically between 20 to 45 each year. Some of the vacancies were created from retiring teachers, but the majority were created from teachers who, dissatisfied for various reasons, move on at the end of the school year.
