The following is a compilation of upcoming events in the Fredonia region. To share your upcoming events, please attend the next Fredonia Community Resource Meeting. 2023 Health and Welfare Resource Virtual Networking meetings in Coconino County
A variety of health and welfare resource networking meetings are held each month in Coconino County. The meetings are presented in local restaurants, libraries, health care agencies and other locations where health professionals and representatives from a variety of governmental and non-profit organizations share information on upcoming programs and events that benefit the health and welfare of children, youth, parents and seniors throughout the region.

Education Spotlight — Coconino County prepare for Back to School Health Fairs. See more local, state and national education news here
While most students and families are enjoying their summer vacations, school officials are busy planning for a variety of back-to-school fairs in the region including Tuba City, Page and Fredonia.
Feb. 23 — Marijuana Expungement & Rights Restoration Information Session & Clinic in Fredonia
A Marijuana Expungement & Rights Restoration Information Session & Clinic will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 23 at the Fredonia Town Office, 25 N. Main St., Fredonia.
Join us for a presentation on expunging prior arrests, charges, or convictions related to possession of marijuana or marijuana paraphernalia. The presentation will begin at noon and discuss what expungement is and what is does, what types of cases are eligible for expungement, and how to bein the process of expungement and restore your rights.
Following the presentation, attorneys from DNA People’s Legal Services will be available to work with individuals to fill out and file the paperwork to bein the expungement process in court.
Education Spotlight — CCC&Y joins other partners in back to school fairs in Page, Fredonia
Summer temperatures approaching the 100s didn’t deter parents and their school-age children from attending back-to-school health and information fairs recently in Page and Fredonia.
The City of Page and the Coconino County Health & Human Resources presented their Back-to-School Community Resource Fair, COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic on Saturday, Aug. 7 at Page High School.
CCC&Y joined other partners in the event which drew dozens of families who received backpacks and other school supplies and child resource information from the Arizona Early Intervention Program, AZ Health Zone, Canyonlands Healthcare, Coconino Community College, Coconino County Health & Human Services, Native Americans for Community Action and other organizations.
Workforce Employability Seminar at Fredonia High School
The students at Fredonia High School had the opportunity to meet with leaders of the Fredonia, Kanab, Cedar City and St. George communities. On March 16, a Workforce Employability Seminar was held at Fredonia High School. Presenters from around the area came to talk to the students about workforce topics like goal setting, team building, personal finance, test taking strategies and communication.
Eighth Grader Sarah Duffield said, “I really enjoyed the session talking about resume writing and job interview skills that was presented by The Skin Institute. Mary Ronnow told us when you are in an interview you need to look through the employer’s eyes and let them know what you can do for them.”
United Way of Northern Arizona: KinderCamp 2015 A Great Success

Today is the first day of school for several districts in Northern Arizona and it seemed like a great time to share with you the phenomenal success of this year’s KinderCamp™.
For several weeks during this summer more than 260 children were part of the innovative program to ensure that children have the skills and confidence they need to be successful when they enter kindergarten.
The children came from all over Northern Arizona – Fredonia and Flagstaff, Winslow and Williams, Page and Pinetop-Lakeside. There was a total of 16 classrooms at eight different sites.
Strengthening Families in Kaibab Paiute
As their children’s first and best teacher, Tosh and her boyfriend, Derrick, know the importance of laying a strong foundation early in their children’s lives. Earlier this year, Tosh signed up for the Growing Up Great parent education classes offered at the Kaibab Early Learning Center near Fredonia. The program covers topics on bonding and attachment, caring for your family, social and emotional development and physical and brain development.
Fredonia’s Future Educators Association going to Nationals
Fredonia’s Future Educators Association traveled to Tuscon on March 2-4, to compete in this year’s state competition.
All of the students did very well and a few students will represent Fredonia at the FEA National competition in Washington, D.C. in April.
The group consisted of nine students who are all taking Early Childhood Education at Fredonia High School and their advisor, Jeanne Crookston. The group was excited to compete against other students from across Arizona. They had a good time and learned a great deal.
