Lawmaker Targets Early Childhood Education Money to Fund CPS

A senior Republican legislator wants to use tobacco-tax dollars to help fund the embattled Child Protective Services, which was recently rocked by revelations that it ignored more than 6,000 cases of abuse and neglect over several years. House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rep. John Kavanagh, R-Fountain Hills, is wading into a big fight. He is not proposing a new revenue source, but is instead targeting the funds of the Arizona Early Childhood Development and Health Board, also known as First Things First.

Save the Children Program Specialist Needed

Save the Children is looking for a new Program Specialist. The Program Specialist oversees the implementation of the ESSS programming with the Havasupai partner. Specific responsibilities include; providing training and technical assistance to partners to ensure high-quality programs; developing and overseeing a plan for service coordination; monitoring partner progress and performance to ensure that they are achieving program objectives; providing home visits to 1-2 children prenatal-3 and their families in Supai camp; consulting with Senior EC Specialist, State team members as needed, to resolve complex issues; and, ensuring compliance with subgrant terms and conditions.
