Shayne Smith is currently the Director of Theater Arts and Bands at Flagstaff HighSchool. Shayne graduated with his Bachelor’s of Music from Ashland University in 2016 where he studied K-12 Music Education. He moved to Flagstaff in 2016 to begin teaching at Flagstaff High School in the Fall. As a Performing Arts Educator, Shayne strives to provide a safe space for his students to express their trust thought, feelings, and selves through several art mediums in an accepting, encouraging, and loving learning environment.
CAVIAT and NAU partner to offer BioScience Program for the Fall 2016 School Year

Northern Arizona University and the Coconino Association for Vocations, Industry & Technology (CAVIAT) in partnerships with several local businesses have received a National Science Foundation (NSF) ITEST grant called ICREATE.

NAU played host to the first Go Baby Go program in Arizona on Friday at the Fieldhouse. At the kickoff, 11 families of children with disabilities met with engineering students, professors and health professionals to tweak ride-on toy cars to fit each child’s needs.

The Williams Unified School District (WUSD) Governing Board agreed to allow school administrators to implement a new finals policy on a trial basis at Williams High School at their Oct. 21 meeting.
Superintendent/High School Principal Rick Honsinger asked the board to consider modifying the finals policy in the spring semester of 2016 as incentive to increase participation and positive behavior at the high school.

High school juniors and seniors interested in bioscience will have a new Career and Technical Education (CTE) class to choose from in the upcoming school year.
In a partnership with Northern Arizona University, Coconino Association for Vocations, Industry and Technology (CAVIAT), and Flagstaff-area businesses, CAVIAT will offer a new, project-based bioscience course, focusing on infectious disease as a theme, said Brent Neilson, CAVIAT superintendent.

Students and faculty celebrated the official opening of a new location for the Coconino Association for Vocations, Industry and Technology (CAVIAT) Friday afternoon.
The building, near Fourth Street and Lockett Road, is one of three new locations the program added this year. The other locations are in Williams and Fredonia, said CAVIAT Superintendent Brent Neilson.
