Tinkering can offer more equitable opportunities for STEM-rich learning by allowing students to bring their multiple ways of knowing into self-directed, inquiry-oriented work that connects science and art to everyday practices. Tinkering activities alone, however, cannot address the various systemic challenges impacting equity in STEM education. Exploratorium has compiled resources describing what these systemic challenges are and how policy makers, program leaders, and community members can strive to create more high-quality, STEM-rich learning opportunities.
