The Raising of America: Learn how strong community and public health partnerships benefit our youngest children, and their families

When: Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 2:00-3:15 pm ET

The Raising of America is the first national, fully integrated media/public engagement project that aims to reframe the way Americans look at early child health and development. The documentary, by the producers of UNNATURAL CAUSES: Is Inequality Making Us Sick?, explores how a strong start for all our kids leads not only to better individual life courses (learning, earning and physical and mental health) but also to a healthier, safer, better educated, more prosperous, and more equitable America.

In the year since its release, the Raising of America documentary and resources have been used by hundreds of organizations to spark new conversations. On Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 2:00-3:15 ET, the Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs, CDC’s Division of Violence Prevention, National Association of County and City Health Officials, and the Healthy Heartlands Collaborative will host a webinar to highlight successful examples of how state and local communities have used the series to build strategic partnerships and implement policy, systems and environmental changes to improve child health and development.

Speakers include the producers of Raising of America¸ and representatives from state and local public health departments, and community organizations that have used the campaign resources to promote equity in child health and development and implement changes.

During this webinar, participants will:

  • Learn about the Raising of America documentary series and public engagement campaign and successes from the first year of the campaign.
  • Identify strategies for community and public health partnerships to promote equity in child health and development.
  • Participate in a discussion to inform local, state, and national partnerships to raise awareness about the importance of early childhood for lifelong health.
