Public school advocacy groups host legislative forum in Prescott

Two groups in support of area public schools hosted a forum Thursday, Aug. 11, comprised of District 1 Legislative candidates with more than 200 people in attendance.

The event was held at Yavapai College and sponsored by the Northern Arizona Interfaith Council and Prescott College Social Justice Human Rights Program. Participants in attendance included State Senate candidate Karen Fann; and House candidates Noel Campbell, Chip Davis, Haryaksha Gregor Knauer, Pete Pierson and David Stringer.

The goal of the event, according to event sponsors, was to present the state of public education funding for the district’s public schools; bring an understanding to the complex challenges local schools are facing; and ascertain each candidate’s views on various matters relating to public education in Arizona.
