NAU partners with FUSD Fit Kids program

Student athletes from Northern Arizona University and Louie the Lumberjack led cheers and helped announce the university’s partnership with Flagstaff Unified School District’s Fit Kids program.

The assembly at Kinsey Elementary School was one of 10 in the upcoming weeks to announce the partnership at each elementary school.

Fit Kids began in 2012 as a partnership between Flagstaff Medical Center and FUSD, and has since grown to include schools throughout northern Arizona. Each school has a Fit Kids coordinator who organizes physical activities throughout the day and before school, as well as a class period during the day for physical activity.

Officials from NAU Athletics attended the assembly, and Mitch Strohman, the NAU sports announcer, led the students in NAU chants, announced the athletes and talked to students about the importance of fitness and good grades.
