The Northern Arizona University Skydome hosted a different kind of competition over the weekend: the FIRST Robotics Arizona North Regional contest, which pitted robots against each other to try to take down a castle.

FIRST stands for: For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.

The competition, called “Stronghold” and described by the organization as a “high-tech capture the flag” game, required school teams to align with teams from other schools and program and drive their robots to cross barriers and shoot balls into a castle structure in order to complete the task.
