LAUNCH Flagstaff — The Educational Data Shows…
LAUNCH Flagstaff supports cradle–to–career initiatives to achieve a world-class education community wide. We envision world-class education as every student prepared for every opportunity. More specifically, it is a student-centered, holistic system of performance-based learning that:
- facilitates personal mastery over time of relevant content and social-emotional skills
- empowers critical thinking, self-advocacy and creative expression with
- collaborative problem-solving and respectful discourse that
- values diversity through multi-cultural literacy and a global perspective.
Kindergarten Readiness: The data shows that nearly half of our five-year olds enter kindergarten without basic foundation skills needed for the best social and academic growth; therefore, community-wide data will reflect evidence of continuous improvement annually in the percentage of children entering kindergarten ready for school – socially, behaviorally and academically.
Third-Grade Reading Proficiency: The data shows that approximately 73% of third-graders are performing at grade level in reading; therefore, community-wide data will reflect evidence of continuous improvement annually in the percentage of students reading on grade level by the end of third grade.
Eighth-Grade Math Proficiency: The data shows that 56% of eighth graders are performing at grade level in math; therefore, community-wide data will reflect evidence of continuous improvement annually in the percentage of eighth-grade students performing at grade level in math.
High School Graduation: The data shows that 85% of ninth-graders graduate high school in four years; therefore, community-wide data will reflect evidence of continuous improvement annually in the percentage of students graduating from high school.
Enrollment onto a Post-Secondary Career Path: The data shows that only 55% of high school graduates in Flagstaff enroll in some form of post-secondary education; therefore, community-wide data will reflect evidence of continuous improvement annually in the percentage of high school graduates who enter a post-secondary career path including, but not limited to, a two or four-year degree program, military or civic service, training or apprenticeship leading to certification in a desired field.
Working together, our community is effectively positioned to continue to build community-wide momentum toward cultivating a culture of world-class education for all Flagstaff children.
Sincerely,
Paul Kulpinski
Partnership Director
