Dear Friend,

Here’s a quick update on some great opportunities we are making to engage with our students, our teachers and our graduates of 2020.

Flagstaff Career Exploration Series on Instagram

The Flagstaff Career and College Readiness Partnership invites all Flagstaff middle and high school students to join us on Thursday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. for series of live, on-line discussions with Flagstaff community members about their career path.

Most importantly, there will also be lots of time to answer your questions!

Thursday April 16 at 3:00 pm

  • Troy Lorents, Global Privacy Manager for W.L. Gore & Associates will share how he prevents hackers from stealing company data and provides support for US and global data security regulations.

Thursday April 23 at 3:00 pm

  • Callie Gabelman, Project Manager for Kinney Construction Services will talk about the skills she uses to coordinate multi-million-dollar construction projects that stay on budget and on track.

Thursday April 30 at 3:00 pm

  • Maisie El-Ters, Forensic Investigator for the Coconino County Medical Examiner will talk about the realities of being an actual forensic investigator and explain how the job differs from what’s shown in fictional dramas like CSI.

Shine Bright Class of 2020

Our community will recognize allFlagstaff senior high school students beginning Monday, April 13, 2020, for the next twenty days.  The stadium lights at Cromer Field will be turned-on for twenty minutes beginning at 8:20 p.m. each night to honor all Northern Arizona seniors in the 2020 graduating class.

The practice of turning on stadium lights to honor the Class of 2020 is a national movement where high schools are recognizing students. Cromer Field at Coconino High School is going to be the sole location in Flagstaff for this event to ensure compliance with community lighting practices.

Let’s Celebrate!

Teacher appreciation activities and graduation ceremonies won’t look the same this year, but that doesn’t mean the celebrations can’t be bigger than ever!

  • Flagstaff’s teachers – from preschool through college – are amazing. Across our community and in every corner of our state, educators continue to give their all to support student success.

  • Our spring 2020 graduates worked really hard to reach this milestone, whether they completed high school, a PhD or anything in between.

It’s important that we find innovative and wonderful ways to celebrate our teachers and our graduates that we value and recognize their efforts and accomplishments.

Expect More Arizona has established the following statewide days of celebration:

Tuesday, May 5, 2020 – Arizona Teacher Appreciation Day
Wednesday, May 20, 2020 – Arizona Graduate Recognition Day

Let’s join them in a celebration that we all will remember!

We’re all in this together and when we come through this difficult time, we will have opportunity to show up for each other in new a beautiful ways.

In the meantime, be well.
