A seat is opening up on the Flagstaff Unified School District Governing Board. Boardmember Kim Khatibi is leaving the board April 12. Her husband has a new job out of state in Seattle.

Khatibi won her seat on the board by default in August 2014 after she and Kathryn Kozak were the only two candidates for the two open seats on the board. She has two years left on her term in office. The Coconino County Superintendent of Schools Risha VanderWey put out a request for applicants on Monday.

Applications for the position have to be turned in by 5 p.m. April 27.
