Key issues in debate of Arizona education reforms, more money for schools

Arizona education leaders say the $3.5 billion school-funding deal passed in October is the first step toward improving the state’s public K-12 district and charter schools.

If voters approve the education-funding plan in May, it will settle a long-standing legal battle over school inflation funding. But education advocates note it will still leave the state near the bottom nationally when it comes to money invested in Arizona students.

Because of this perceived need for funding, and other efforts to improve Arizona schools, education reform will remain a key topic during the next legislative session, which starts in January.
