A NEW RESOURCE FOR OUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME STEM

Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence is excited to debut STEM Saturdays, a new science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) resource for out-of-school time providers!
STEM Saturdays will be published every other Saturday, highlighting:
  • STEM activities,
  • STEM professional development opportunities,
  • STEM resources, and
  • best practices in STEM.
The goal of STEM Saturdays is to increase quality, hands-on STEM learning opportunities for Arizona youth participating in out-of-school time programs. Visit the AzCASE STEM website to learn more about why quality STEM programs matter.

The Power of Discovery: STEM2offers a variety of free STEM resources, including on demand webinars and videos designed to encourage community programs to expand STEM learning opportunities.
In this video from their video library, a 4-H Youth Development Leader demonstrates the wonders of milk when exposed to dish soap. It’s a colorful, hands-on experiment that engages youth in an exploration of surface tension.

Engineering is Elementary: STEM CURRICULA FOR AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS

Engineering Everywhere is a FREE engineering curriculum for middle school-aged youth in afterschool and camp programs. Each intriguing engineering challenge empowers youth to tackle real-
world engineering problems using the engineering design process along with creativity and collaboration.

One of the Engineering Everywhere units, Don’t Runoff: Engineering an Urban Landscape, develops environmental engineering skills and empowers youth to redesign a city to control stormwater runoff. Download this unit here.
