Independent Living Specialist III position posted with AzCA

Arizona’s Children Association recently posted a full-time position for an Independent Living Specialist III in the Flagstaff area. It is a MA level position and the candidate would complete psychosocial assessments with youth as part of the intake process, as well as work directly with youth to help them achieve their identified self-sufficiency goals in their transition from the foster care system to adulthood.

Position Summary:

  • The Independent Living Specialist is responsible for assisting young adults in the transition from foster care to an independent, sustainable living environment. In support of the client’s transition, the position will assist young adults in gaining and sustaining employment, accessing personal and community resources, providing life skills training and support, to meet both client and contractual service requirements, in a manner that is culturally responsive, strengths based and trauma informed. Performs responsibilities and provides effective support with general supervision. Able to work independently and provide support/guidance to others.

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Professional Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience working in the field with youth, young adults and/or families.

Other Minimum Qualification

  • Must be 21 years of age (licensing requirement).
  • Possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and be insurable under the agency’s automobile policy.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation to and from clients’ homes and/or other relevant organizations/agencies.
  • Must be able to provide DPS fingerprint clearance.
