The start of school is almost here.

I hope all of you had a fantastic summer and were able to get away and refuel your tank and recharge your batteries (my wife and I spent June in hot, humid Houston, Texas. hugging grandkids). Don’t look now, but the start of school is sneaking up on us.

Great things are happening in the Grand Canyon School. Matt Yost has been named assistant to the superintendent, Lori Rommel has assumed the position of assistant principal, Susan Duthie will be our counselor for 2016-17, Barb Shields is our new director of food service, John Sullivan will be the middle school math teacher, Michelle Blank will be our new curriculum guru and Dr. Karen Lehman is now the full-time director of special education. We welcome three new teachers on board: Norm Geiger as the middle school science teacher, Kati Thompson as a third grade teacher and Emily Petrie as a third grade teacher.
