Council Meets to Discuss New Funding Model for K-12 Education

We know many of your care deeply about education funding in Arizona – so do we. In fact, the issue is one of Expect More Arizona’s top priorities. We’re working to make sure every child’s education is adequately funded each step of the way – from the early years up to career – to support excellence for all.

We’ll bring you regular updates about education funding in Arizona, starting with the Governor’s Classrooms First Initiative Council, to keep you informed and share opportunities for you to get involved.

On June 26th, the Council held its first meeting where they heard remarks from Governor Ducey and listened to presentations from various experts about how Arizona’s current K-12 funding model works. In his remarks, the Governor asked the Council to reform the current funding formula with a focus on creating a single formula that is easy to understand and applies to all schools fairly….

Get Involved

These meetings are good opportunities to share your thoughts on education funding. A call to the public is made during each meeting. Attendees simply fill out a short form to indicate they want to speak and give it to a staff member in the room. Each person usually has 3 minutes to speak.
