Girls on the Run empowers Williams youth

WILLIAMS, Ariz. – Six middle school girls jog laps around the Williams Elementary Middle School (WEMS) football field pausing each lap to receive instructions from their coach. They are told to jump for 30 seconds without a jump rope or dance to their favorite song.

Just minutes earlier, coach Karli Langenbach led the girls in a discussion about dealing with life’s challenges. With each lap, the girls work through the challenges given to them – like skipping and running backward.

“This program incorporates life skills into running and eating healthy,” Langebach said. “We talk about peer pressure and the things that they are going through.”
