Saturday, Dec. 10, was the Killip Chess Klassic, held at Killip Elementary School. Ninety-one students competed for trophies and valuable ratings points with the United States Chess Federation chess rating system. The students competed in four sections: Open, U750, U350 and K-1.
First place winners were Jaiden Smith, 6th grade, Sinagua Middle School; Adrianna Long, 4th grade, Killip; Dylan Carrillo, 4th grade, Killip; and Valentina Lara, 1st grade, Killip. Jaiden, Dylan and Valentina all had perfect scores of 5.0.
