The best gifts for young children
‘Tis the holiday season and, filled with good cheer,
We’re looking for presents for young kids we hold dear.
For our babies and toddlers and preschoolers all.
We’re shopping online or walking the mall.

But rest easy, good friends, there’s no need to stress.
When it comes to young children, simple gifts are the best.
They don’t need the costliest, flashiest thing.
Or things with a screen or things that plug in.

Simpler is better, like books and like blocks.
And don’t be surprised when they play with the box.
But the best gifts you can give can’t be put on a shelf:
Your time and attention, gifts you give of yourself.
