In the Flagstaff High School Aerospace Engineering class’ debut year, the group, taught by Bruce Sidlinger, brought home the honor of wining first place for the most educational initiative at the Global Space Balloon Challenge.

Sidlinger said the class’ balloon setup was unique in the fact that they used a homemade gimbal, programmed to adjust to the movement of the balloon, to hold the camera and film stabilized video. Sidlinger said he and others involved in the project could not find record of stabilized video used in a balloon in the past.
