Election Resources – Candidate Debates and More…

| October 15, 2014

CCC&Y has compiled a few candidate debate videos from PBS 8 Election Coverage and other resources for easy access and to keep you informed this election season.  Be sure to check them out here, or view more at the PBS 8 Election page.

Superintendent of Public Instruction
A recording of the Channel 8 debate between Diane Douglas and David Garcia, the two candidates for Superintendent of Public Instruction,  is now available. As reported by the Arizona Capital Times, Diane Douglas has not participated in any of the prior debates including the one that AASBO had scheduled at the September 10th AASBO Meeting. Therefore, this may have been the only opportunity to see both candidates together address the issues related to the Superintendent of Public Instruction position.

Governor – Education
AASBO joined with five other educational organizations and FOX-10 Arizona to hold a debate on September 28th with the Republican and Democratic candidates for Governor, Doug Ducey and Fred Duval. With important issues like funding for our public schools and the implementation of common core the next Governor of our state will be critical to the future of public schools in Arizona. This may be one of the most critical elections for public schools ever.
