FLAGSTAFF — Education certainly did not sit on the sidelines during the 4th of July Parade held in downtown Flagstaff.

More than 100 entries signed up for this year’s parade, including the Coconino County Superintendent of Schools, the Flagstaff Unified School District, charter schools and the Coconino Coalition for Children & Youth.

The entries included vehicles carrying teachers of the year, FUSD Superintendent Barbara Hickman leading the parade of schools, the Flagstaff High School Marching Band, the Coconino High School Coconuts Robotic Team and CCC&Y’s colorful entry festooned in pinwheels in recognition of “Pinwheels for Prevention — Prevent Child Abuse”

Thanks to all the volunteers, students, staff, teachers and administrations who made the parade entries possible.

Wishing you all a safe and happy 4th of July holiday weekend.
