Ducey requests Common Core review at Arizona State Board of Education

Gov. Doug Ducey told the Arizona State Board of Education Monday that he opposes Common Core standards, but he stopped short of telling the board to repeal them.

Ducey explained his education agenda Monday morning to the board and said he wants more school choice in Arizona as well as a complete review of the Common Core-based state language and math standards.

He asked the board to appoint committees of parents, students and educators from around the state to review the standards, named the Arizona College and Career Ready Standards, and make sure they reflect what Arizona residents want taught in K-12 schools.
