Distracted Driving Ordinance Enforcement Begins November 22

The ordinance prohibits a motor vehicle operator from using a portable communications device while driving unless they are using a hands-free mobile device.

Drivers found violating Coconino County’s ordinance that prohibits the use of portable communication devices while driving could be cited.

For the purpose of informing and educating the public and motorists, the ordinance allowed for law enforcement officers to issue verbal warnings to persons found violating the ordinance through Nov. 22.
