Sirens punctured the brisk morning air in the University Heights neighborhood as children shouted gleefully. Some stood in line waiting to get into an ambulance while others were piled into the back of a police car as officials talked to them about safety tips and the emergency services they provide.

Thursday marked the first DeMiguel Dash fundraiser put on by the elementary school’s parent-teacher organization, with members of the Flagstaff Fire Department, Northern Arizona  University Police Department and Guardian Medical Transport invited to cheer on the kids while promoting health and safety.
