FLAGSTAFF — CCC&Y hosted more than 300 individuals in Flagstaff this October in order to be a part of a day-long presentation with internationally known child-welfare expert, Kevin Campbell.  An additional live-stream site was set up in Page which served an additional eight guests.

This past week, CCC&Y conducted two focus group follow ups for a total of 43 individuals, plus board members Andrea Meronuck and Cliff Binkley as moderators and CCC&Y Executive Director Virginia Watahomigie in attendance.

Both focus groups had diverse perspectives, interesting feedback to share and were very helpful in seeing what “rose to the top” for individuals as well as ideas for next steps.  Barriers and needs were also identified by the groups.

Currently, Virginia Watahomigie is working on a needs assessment for Coconino County that will be followed by a strategic plan, logic model, action plans and evaluation plans.  The feedback from the focus groups is crucial for CCC&Y to wrap all of its prevention work together and help create plans to utilize Self-Healing Communities as a model for the work.

We are hoping to structure our committees to meet the needs and ideas as they are identified.  We may be requesting additional feedback through this process.  We are excited to be planning so much as we go into 2020 and really working towards our Mission: Igniting collective action to cultivate, honor & empower resilient, thriving communities.

We have recently brought on new members to CCC&Y who have been impacted by this work and/or who are in support of our Mission.  All members can be viewed at https://coconinokids.org/membership/

We invite you to join us and this collective movement if you have not yet done so.
