CONGRATULATIONS to the ChildLight Yoga Teacher Training Scholarship Recipients!

It is our great pleasure to announce that the ChildLight Yoga Teacher Training scholarship recipients have been selected.  The scholarships have been made possible through a grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona.  Yoga practice among children improves behavior, increases concentration, relieves anxiety and stress, strengthens patience and decision making skills, and even reduces rates of obesity, among many other benefits.

CCC&Y has selected 22 individuals from throughout Coconino County to attend this two and a half day intensive training on January 23rd, 24th and 25th, 2015.  Scholarship recipients represent four Coconino Communities: Williams, Page, Tuba City, and Flagstaff and16 Different Organizations/Institutions including:

Arizona’s Children Association
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff
Coconino County Public Health District
Dine Youth
Fit Kids
Flagstaff Cooperative Preschool
Flagstaff Unified School District
Foresight Learning Center
Leapin’ Lizards Learnin’ Center
NACOG Head Start
Northland Family Help Center
Parenting Arizona
Pine Forest Preschool
The Guidance Center
Victim Witness Services
Williams Elementary School

Each scholarship recipient commits to becoming certified in ChildLight Yoga which includes facilitating at least three yoga classes in their community within three months of the teacher training. Recipients also commit to being a continued resource in the community.

Thank you to all those who applied for your interest and your very thorough, very passionate applications.  We are excited to share this incredible learning opportunity with those who might not otherwise be able to attend and are excited to once again host this innovative and creative training opportunity to Coconino County providers, teachers and caregivers.
