National Afterschool Association’s (NAA) Next Generation of Afterschool Leaders identifies young leaders and recognizes and cultivates the talent of rising stars who have the potential to influence the field of afterschool for years to come. The selected emerging leader honorees will have: demonstrated contributions that have started to influence beyond individual programs to organizations and communities, a proven passion for development of themselves and others, active engagement in efforts to elevate the afterschool field and demonstrated persistence in their work to grow as leaders.

CPLC Parenting Arizona of Flagstaff and the Tuba City Child Abuse Prevention Council are happy to announce a series of contests in anticipation of our upcoming Virtual Fun Run taking place from November 1st-7th! Family Involvement Center seeks partners to bring Sibshops to region

The Family Involvement Center would like to bring Sibshops to as many families in Northern AZ as possible!   

We’re seeking partners who are interested in learning how to conduct Sibshops for their own agencies and families.  The Sibling Support Project would be brought to AZ to conduct professional in-person two-day training(s), which includes a hands-on Sibshop demo with local kiddos, to any organizations that are interested in helping to address the needs of siblings of special needs kids.  The training would be provided at no or very minimal cost to participants.   We’re not looking for funding partners, as the training would be offered through grant funds for which we’re applying.

Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence (AzCASE) — This Year’s Lights On Afterschool Might Look Different on Oct. 22

Lights On Afterschool is the annual celebration of out-of-school time. Join more than 8,000 communities and 1 million Americans in celebrating afterschool programs for this year’s Lights On Afterschool. This nationwide event, organized by Afterschool Alliance, calls attention to the importance of afterschool programs and the resources required to keep the lights on and the doors open. Despite the unique challenges we have all faced this year, afterschool programs across the country have stepped up to fill in important roles in our communities.

STEM-ulating Activities on Human Ecology🌱

The 2020 School’s Out, Make It Count Conference — taking place virtually from October 10th – 30th — will feature more than 60 virtual workshops, including seven sessions devoted to STEM learning.

One such workshop is STEM-ulating Activities on Human Ecology, presented by Marni Landry of Grand Canyon University. Join Marni’s virtual session to discover innovative ways to teach about human-environmental interactions, while also building STEM skills. Hands-on activities address natural resource use, population trends, wildlife habit, fresh water and our changing climate. Activity formats include games of strategy, cooperative-group problem-solving and role-playing simulations. All participants will receive access to activity plans in an electronic format.
