Arizona Ranks Dead Last in Teacher Pay, Classroom Spending

Arizona spends the fewest dollars per student in the U.S. on classroom instruction, teacher pay and school administration, according to a new report out today from the U.S. Census Bureau. The report also shows Arizona has the lowest amount of K-12 school funding from state sources.
The report, based in 2013 data, also shows Arizona has the lowest amount of K-12 school funding from state sources.
Overall, Arizona spent $7,208 per pupil in 2013. Only Idaho ($6,791) and Utah ($6,555) spent less.
New York ($19,818) and Alaska ($18,175) spent the most per student. California was 34th in per-pupil spending ($10,702). Arizona has long been at or near the bottom of the list.
