Arizona halts slide in classroom spending

PHOENIX — The slide in the percentage of education funds that ends up in Arizona classrooms appears to have stopped.

A new report Friday by the Auditor General’s Office finds 53.8 cents out of every dollar spent to educate Arizona youngsters last school year went for instruction. That’s the same figure as the prior year, which set the low-water mark since the agency started tracking the issue in 2001.
