CAP Training
AzCAN wants to ensure all students receive assistance with planning for postsecondary education and that college access professionals have the knowledge and expertise to provide accurate information to students.

AzCAN’s College Access Professional (CAP) Training will help you develop an understanding of your role in developing a college-going mission for all students, particularly students in poverty or facing other barriers in postsecondary planning. College & Career Readiness Indicators Webinar

In April 2017, the Arizona State Board of Education adopted the A-F School Accountability Plan, with the goal of employing the use of multiple indicators to measure the quality of a school. Along with a request for immediate implementation, many counselors were left to quickly scramble to gather
and report student data, particularly College & Career Readiness data. This webinar will feature Ethan Hurley, Vail Unified School District’s Director of College and Career Readiness as he speaks about Vail’s data gathering process and highlight next steps in preparing for the following reporting period. Project Benjamin Update
Arizona’s new FAFSA chatbot, Ask Benji, has been live since October 1 and has had a great response already from students, parents and educators. Ten districts encompassing 53 high schools have signed on to implement this new Artificial

CAP Training: College & Career Advising for Special Population Students
January 13 – March 14, 2020
This module, developed for college access professionals, includes sessions that address the skills and knowledge required to help special population students prepare for college and careers. This course will specifically address the needs of the following special populations: 
* Homeless students 
* Students in foster care and wards of the court
* Students with disabilities 
* LGBTQ students 
* Migrant or undocumented students 
* Refugee students 
* Court-involved youth
