School Safety Program Expansion
Governor Doug Ducey’s School Safety Program, a state-funded grant that places School Resource Officers and Juvenile Probation Officers in selected schools to contribute to safe school environments, now includes School Counselors and Social Workers as options for schools to request. To learn more about the expansion, please view this powerpoint.
There is a short turn around for Districts to apply for the grant funds, so applications will need to be submitted quickly. The dates are as follows:
  • September 16th-the grant application is open and details about applying can be found in this webinar
  • September 27th-the grant application closes
  • October 28th-State Board of Education will review/approve award of grants
Districts can request funds for all of the above positions, but they will be asked to address the need for each position in their application.
AzCAN advocates at the local, state, and national level for policies that increase college access and completion for low-income, minority, and first generation college students.
