Webinar: Understanding Digital Leadership & Best Practices for Engaging Girls in Tech

Providing girls with the tools to be active creators of technological innovation is a growing priority in education across the country. The Afterschool Alliance is hosting a webinar with a lead researcher from the Girl Scout Research Institute who will present findings from their recently released report, Decoding the Digital Girl, exploring how girls are using their digital experiences to improve their lives, their communities, and the world. Also featured in the webinar, hear from a curriculum developer from Girls Who Code who will discuss the promising practices and strategies that their programs employ.

Flagstaff Community STEM Celebration

The sixth annual Flagstaff Community STEM Celebration will be held on Monday, March 11 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Walkup Skydome located on the Northern Arizona University campus. The event is a community event supported by various community partners to bring families together for participatory events promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. There are currently close to 100 participating organizations for this event. Participants will get to explore STEM with hands on activities and giveaways highlighting opportunities throughout the community.

Out-of-School Time STEAM Survey
The Innovation Collaborative is conducting a national study that will help outline effective practices for STEAM (STEM+Arts). The first national study of its kind, your participation could help determine what constitute an effective STEAM program in a broad range of out-of-school settings and provide the foundational research base for the out-of-school STEAM movement. This research will provide validated strategies and tools that out-of-school educators can use to assure that their STEAM practices have the maximum effectiveness in promoting vital innovative thinking skills. Any out-of-school educator serving early childhood through higher education students can participate by completing a brief survey by March 31.
