The Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence is celebrating

The 2020 Conference is Going Virtual

Safety of our conference attendees is one of our top priorities and an overwhelming number of you said you would feel safer going virtual. The 28th annual School’s Out, Make It Count conference will be virtual this year. Although we will miss seeing everyone in-person, there are some great advantages going online:

  • All attendees will have the opportunity to attend all the workshops, how you ask? We will have several days of live workshops and all workshops will be available for attendees to view for 2 weeks. That is 50+ workshops!

  • All attendees will get to enjoy our amazing Exhibit Hall and win wonderful door prizes and giveaways.

  • No face masks required.

Young People Speaking Up For What They Believe In.
Let’s Amplify Their Voices!
Afterschool Snack / Afterschool Alliance

Youth voices are more important than ever. That is why, this year, the Afterschool Alliance wants to amplify the voices of young people as part of their coverage of this moment in afterschool—and as part of their Youth Ambassador selection process.

Afterschool Alliance is asking youth (13 years or older) to submit a short writing, creative, or art piece showing their experiences over the past few months and what they hope will happen in the future, for the chance to win a $40 Amazon gift card. Authors and artists whose pieces are published in full by the Afterschool Alliance will receive a $75 stipend, or may be invited to apply to become a 2020-21 Afterschool Alliance Youth Ambassador!

Arizona Quality Out-of-School Time Programs

There is widespread agreement that while out-of-school time programs can be strong tools for youth development, this is only the case when these programs are of high quality. Quality programs come in a variety of shapes and sizes. There is no one program, style, curriculum, or method that meets the needs of all youth. Rather, a quality program is one that is a living organism, growing and adapting to meet the needs of all youth. Learn about the Arizona Continuous Quality Improvement Process for out-of-school time programs on our website here.
