Supporting LGBTQ Youth of Color
Schools nationwide can be hostile environments for LGBTQ youth of color, where they experience racism, homophobia, and transphobia. In addition, many LGBTQ do not have access to in-school resources that may improve school climate and students’ experiences, including GSAs, ethnic/cultural clubs, supportive educators, and inclusive curriculum. Visit GLSEN’s website to explore their collection of research reports exploring the experiences of Asian American and Pacific Islander, Black, Latinx, and Native & Indigenous LGBTQ youth. You will also find a collection of blogs from students, educators, and advocates highlighting how to support this population of students.

PAXIS Institute is excited to partner with the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith, and Families to bring PAX Tools Community Educator Trainings and PAX Tools for Human Services Trainings to communities across Arizona at NO COST!

What is PAX Tools?

PAX Tools empowers adults throughout the community to reduce conflict and improve relationships with youth, with the use of easy-to-use strategies. PAX Tools is designed for a variety of home and community settings. In fact, any caring adult, including parents, caregivers, and adults who serve youth in a volunteer or professional setting can use PAX Tools to create a nurturing environment for the youth in their lives. Whether a child is learning developmentally appropriate behavioral skills, experiencing school at home, or navigating systems of care, PAX Tools has an appropriate application.

Dozens of independent studies have demonstrated that the evidence-based and trauma-informed strategies that make up PAX Tools improve academic and social outcomes, reduce health disparities, and reduce the probability for mental health and substance use disorders.
