Awards Of Excellence Nominations Now Open
 
 
The Annual Arizona Out-of-School Time Awards of Excellence recognizes excellent out-of-school time programs and staff members for their exemplary work in providing and promoting quality youth development programs for Arizona’s youth.  
 
For the 19th consecutive year, the Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence will honor winners in five categories. Winners will be announced at the School’s Out, Make it Count Conference on October 17th, 2020.

FIVE-STEP PLAN TO DEVELOP STRONG WORK HABITS AND A POSITIVE ATTITUDE
 
 
From the National Afterschool Association:
Donald Sheffield outlines the plan in his book, Practice Makes Perfect—Not! Understanding High Performance: Excellence Is a Habit. In simple form, it consists of five steps: warm up, focus, finish, outlook and cool down. The plan works for any activity that’s the responsibility of the child.
 
 
 
The 2020 Gro More Good Grassroots Grant presented by The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation and KidsGardening is designed to bring the life-enhancing benefits of gardens to communities across the United States. Awards provide funding for the development of new and expansion of existing youth garden programs and greenspaces serving 15 or more youth. Application deadline is February 14th.
 
Brady Shines is currently accepting requests from nonprofit organizations, government entities, schools, universities, churches, and faith-based organizations that address the themes of Supporting the Disabled, Healthy Living, and Schools In Need. Grants ranging from $250 to $10,000 and product donations will be provided.
Renaissance Fair Student Days
Tuesday February 25th and Thursday February 27th
 
The Arizona Renaissance Festival Student Days offer a unique opportunity to bring an important era in history to life. 
Student Days were created to highlight the educational aspects of the Renaissance; language, science, exploration, mannerisms, customs, commedia theatre, jousting tournaments, artisan demonstrations and music are just some of the learning opportunities that await your students.
