Affordable Care Act Enrollment

| January 7, 2015

This beginning of the new year is also open enrollment season to sign up for and renew health coverage in the Marketplace – known as Obamacare. The deadline to sign up for a health plan is February 15, 2015. This year, application systems are running more smoothly and there are many more tools available to help people shop for affordable or low cost health plans.  Last year, 8 out of 10 Arizonans who enrolled in the Marketplace got financial assistance to help pay for premiums.

Arizonans can use the Connector to go on line and schedule an appointment for free help in your area to complete an application for Marketplace or AHCCCS coverage. Anyone with an internet connection can use the Connector at www.coveraz.org. People without internet access across Arizona can also schedule an appointment directly through a live operator during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 7am-6pm by dialing 211.

Children’s Action Alliance (CAA) encourages families who signed up last year to visit a local assister or Navigator again to check out new options on the Marketplace that may better meet your needs. Local assisters will help you figure out if you qualify for financial assistance and give you resources to help you choose the best plan for your family. All assisters and Navigators available on the Connector are certified and registered to provide expert assistance and most are bilingual in Spanish and English. Visit www.coveraz.org for materials and information to share.

CAA and other community partners can also provide free educational presentations to your group about health insurance coverage. Simply email Joe Fu, CAA Director of Health Policy, at jfu@azchildren.org to schedule a presentation.
