Action & Outreach Spotlight: Arizona State Board of Education to hold retreat, open to public, Aug. 9, 10 in Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF — The Arizona State Board of Education will hold a retreat, open to the public, on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM and Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM at Northern Arizona University, S. San Francisco St., University Union Building 30 B/A, Flagstaff.

The retreat will include:

  1. August 9, 2019 2:00 PM CALL TO THE PUBLIC
  2. August 9, 2019 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM Presentation and discussion regarding national trends in school improvement and school turnaround presented by WestEd
  3. August 9, 2019 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM Presentation and discussion regarding different types of assessments and best practices on statewide assessment development presented by WestEd
  4. August 10, 2019 9:00 AM CALL TO THE PUBLIC
  5. August 10, 2019 9:00 AM – 10:15 AM Presentation and discussion regarding school improvement and school turnaround
  6. August 10, 2019 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM Presentation and discussion regarding early literacy and Move on When Reading
  7. August 10, 2019 11:45 AM – 12:45 PM EXECUTIVE SESSION: Presentation and discussion on the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the statewide assessment in school year 2021-2022. Pursuant to A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(2) and (A)(3), the Board may vote to convene in executive session, which will not be open to the public, for discussion or consideration of records exempt by law from public inspection and for discussion or consultation for legal advice concerning this item
  8. August 10, 2019 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM Presentation and discussion regarding educator discipline
