The switch to the current-year school funding system may mean less money for many districts.

Arizona is set to move to a current-year funding system for 2016-17. That means the money districts receive from state and local revenue will be mostly dictated by the number of students they expect to have for that same school year.

Currently, local and state funding for school districts is determined by enrollment numbers from the prior school year.

The switch, which was approved by the Arizona Legislature last year, could have a major impact.
