2014 FUSD Override Renewal Election – November

| July 1, 2014

Flagstaff Unified School District (FUSD) is up for an override renewal in this coming November 4th election.

The renewal, NOT a new tax, is a $7.3 million maintenance and operations override.

What does $7,300,000 provide in FUSD?

  • Maintains class sizes
  • Maintains remedial/intervention for students in reading/writing/math
  • Continues quality programs in technology, career and technical education, music, art, drama, foreign languages, physical education, and all gifted and advanced placement electives (magnet programs)
  • Maintains full-day kindergarten for all students! (only 1/2 day is supported by regular state m&o formula)
  • Maintains specialized programs for a variety of student needs
  • Promotes a safe and healthy school environment
  • Supports competitive compensation to attract and retain highly qualified teachers and staff

If you are interested in learning more, please see the website of “Yes for FUSD” a grassroots all-volunteer organization in support of the override at http://www.yesforfusd.com/

The CCC&Y Board of Directors has voted in support of the FUSD Override.  The override will MAINTAIN a current level of maintenance and operations which is critical in this time of diminished educational resources.  We encourage your “yes vote” this coming November 4th in support of our children and youth and the critical resources necessary for their health and development.
