Hundreds of parents and children attended the 2017 Flagstaff Early Childhood Fair held on May 6 at Flagstaff High School.

More than three-dozen educational booths, musical entertainment and other information greeted parents in the Commons area at the high school.

With the theme “Full STEAM Ahead,” the annual fair provided parents with information on a variety of early childhood programs available in the region.

From gardening to exploring the cosmos, the event provided hands on activities that show how the early years are the best time to promote skills for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math.

Flagstaff Vice Mayor Jamie Whelan and Flagstaff City Councilmember Charlie Odegaard attended the event, which included presentation of the official proclaimation.

Presented by the Coconino Coalition for Children & Youth, First Things First, the Flagstaff Unified School District and North Country HealthCare, the fair also included a teacher supply swap, free dental screenings for kids, free rides on the Flagstaff Kiddie Caboose! and a choir performance.
