Fostering Advocates AZ’s Second Annual Opportunity Fair & Forum – October 30th

| October 18, 2015

Currently, there are 5.6 million Americans between the ages of 16-24 who are considered “opportunity youth,” meaning they are not in school or working. That is enough people to fill the Yankee Baseball Stadium to full capacity…1,000 times over. Despite young people’s enthusiasm about getting to work, many struggle to find a job for any number of reasons.

In August 2015, a coalition of employers launched the 100,000 Opportunities Initiative to form the nation’s largest employer-led coalition committed to creating meaningful pathways and hiring at least 100,000 opportunity youth by 2018.

With nearly one in five “opportunity youth” in Maricopa County, the 100,000 Opportunities Initiative is committed to investing in our region. Through their efforts with community partner organizations, they are hosting the second Opportunity Fair & Forum on October 30th, from 9am-4pm at the Phoenix Convention Center.

All opportunity youth, ages 16-24, are welcome to attend, learn to practice interview skills, create and improve their resume, find resources to help them earn their high school diploma and explore college, dress for success, tap into safe legal resources for youth involved with the justice system and more. There will be 20 top companies on hand, some of which will interview and hire on the spot.
