This free workshop, November 16th, 9:00a .m. to Noon at the Flagstaff Family Resource Center, 4000 North Cummings Street, is comprised of two parts: one component for parents called Stewards of Children and another for children called Body Safety Box. Parents are highly encouraged to bring their children to this workshop.
Stewards of Children is a prevention training program that teaches adults how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The program is designed for organizations that serve youth and for individuals concerned about the safety of children. It is the only nationally distributed, evidence based program proven to increase knowledge, improve attitudes, and change child protective behaviors.
The Body Safety Box is a research-based child abuse prevention educational kit designed to help keep children safe. Shockingly, child abuse affects one in four girls and one in six boys before they turn eighteen. An informed child is a better protected child; and The Body Safety Box includes a collection of age-appropriate, kid-friendly projects your child will love and remember. Children from ages 5 through 12 are welcome to attend this multiage session where they will complete a portion of the activities contained in The Body Safety Box. Children will bring the rest of their materials home to complete with parents.
Spots for both adult and children workshops are limited to 50 participants each.
